Groups are the foundation of SolSplitter. Learn how to create and manage your expense groups.
Creating Groups
Basic Group Setup
Required Information:
- Group Name: Make it memorable (e.g., "Bali 2025", "Apartment 4B")
- Description: Optional context for the group
- Default Currency: SOL or USDT
Optional Settings:
- Privacy Level: Public (anyone can join) or Private (invite only)
- Split Method: Equal (default) or Custom amounts
Inviting Members
Method 1: Wallet Address
- Get their Solana wallet address
- Enter it in the "Add Member" field
- They'll see the group next time they connect
Method 2: Invite Link
- Generate a shareable invite link
- Share via text, email, or social media
- Members click link and connect their wallet

Managing Group Members
Member Roles
Creator/Admin:
- Create and delete the group
- Add/remove members
- Modify group settings
Regular Members:
- Add expenses to the group
- Invite new members (if enabled)
- Settle their own balances
- View all group activity
Adding Members Mid-Group
When you add someone to an existing group:
- They see all historical expenses
- Their balance starts at $0
- They're included in future expense splits
Removing Members
When someone leaves a group:
- Active balances must be settled first
- Their expense history remains visible
- They lose access to add new expenses

Financial Settings
Default Currency:
- SOL for fast, cheap transactions
- USDT for stable value during long trips
Settlement Preferences:
- Manual: Members settle when they want
- Threshold: Auto-remind when balance hits amount
